The Oilers have lost one of their core defencemen. How long remains to be seen.

Darnell Nurse, who logs big minutes for Edmonton, appeared to injury his right leg during the second period on Friday night against the Colorado Avalanche. He did not return for the third.

Nurse has nine goals and 26 assists this season. He wound up with just 10 minutes of ice time before having to leave. Head coach Jay Woodcroft did not have an update on his status post-game and said he would be re-evaluated on Saturday.

The Oilers locked up a playoff spot on Friday.
